About the Event

Premiering on May 6th and continuing on the first and third Thursdays, (where applicable), Central Hall Commons will be featuring a Virtual Conversation series focusing on Our Common Purpose and topics of public interest. During this yearlong series we will consider the strategies described in the Commission on the Practice of Democratic Citizenship from The American Academy of Arts & Sciences as well as a collection of topics ranging from Cultural Awareness, Reproductive Justice, Self Care and Emotional Wellbeing.

Our Common Purpose identifies six strategies which will be discussed in detail on the first Thursday of the month, these include: Achieving equality of voice and representation through our political institutions, Empowering voters in lasting ways, Ensuring responsiveness of our political institutions, Expanding the capacity of civil society organizations that foster ‘bridging’ across lines of difference, Building civic information architecture that supports common purpose and Inspiring a culture of commitment to American constitutional democracy and one another.

Third Thursday Presentations include: Mabel Wadsworth Center, JD Foundation, Monson Arts, Maine Council on Aging & More!
